What is Shared Care?
Shared care means your pregnancy is managed by both your GP and a hospital or private obstetrician. You'll have regular appointments with your GP for routine check-ups, while more specialised care and your delivery are managed by your chosen hospital.
This approach provides convenient, local care while ensuring you have access to specialist obstetric services when needed. It's the most common model of pregnancy care in Australia.
Bulk Billing
Antenatal appointments with your GP are bulk billed under Medicare — no out-of-pocket costs for your pregnancy check-ups.

High-Risk Pregnancies
If your pregnancy is considered higher risk (e.g., gestational diabetes, twins, previous complications), your GP will coordinate closely with your obstetrician and hospital to ensure you receive appropriate specialist care.
Our GPs can refer you to the appropriate specialists and ensure all your care is coordinated.
