Why Get a Travel Health Consultation?

Different destinations carry different health risks. From tropical diseases to food and water-borne illnesses, being prepared can make the difference between a great trip and a medical emergency.

Our GPs can assess your travel plans, recommend necessary vaccinations, prescribe preventive medications, and provide advice on staying healthy while abroad.

Some vaccines require multiple doses over several weeks, so it is important to book your consultation at least 6-8 weeks before your departure date.

When to Book

Ideally 6-8 weeks before travel. Some vaccines need time to take effect, and others require multiple doses. Last-minute appointments are possible but may limit your options.

What to Bring

  • Your complete travel itinerary and duration
  • Activities planned (hiking, water sports, rural areas)
  • Accommodation type (hotels, camping, hostels)
  • Current medications and medical conditions

Travel Vaccinations

We offer a range of travel vaccinations. The vaccines you need depend on your destination, duration, and activities.

Hepatitis A & B
Typhoid
Yellow Fever (referral)
Japanese Encephalitis
Rabies (pre-exposure)

Influenza

Important Note on Costs

Travel vaccinations are generally not covered by Medicare or the PBS. You will need to pay for the vaccine itself. We will provide a quote before administering any vaccines so there are no surprises.
